Opportunities are blooming at L’Arche NC, and we are ready for spring!

February was filled with so many new opportunities for friendship!

At the beginning of the month, L’Arche NC friends gathered for a “Crafternoon” where we painted jars with thumbprint hearts and made friendship booklets. We had many new friends join us for this gathering. After the event, one parent shared with us that for an hour after the Zoom call their daughter continued to say on her communication device “painting with friends, painting with friends!” We are so grateful to be able to provide these opportunities to connect.

In February we also joined with L’Arche Atlanta for our monthly prayer service, “Y’All Belong Here”. We have been gathering on the third Wednesday of each month at 2:00pm EST for this event since May 2021! It has been a real blessing to create this recurring sacred space of friends where we often see familiar faces and greet new friends. Last month, as we watched our community members encourage each other and pray for one another, the sense of belonging was visible! We hope you’ll join us in March and experience the lasting friendships that are being built in this space, even while many of us are miles apart.

Our final event in February was Friendship Bingo with L’Arche Frederick. We had a blast spending time together, answering some fun “get to know you” questions, and winning prizes. Each event has brought more new friends together with L’Arche NC, and with them more and more enthusiasm and excitement! After this event, one parent told us, “I am absolutely blown away by your entire organization!  Thank you from the bottom of my heart for offering these wonderful activities!!”

Don’t worry if you missed out. The opportunities didn’t end in February! We have many exciting community get-togethers planned in March. As one of our new friends exclaimed upon hearing what’s coming next, it’s going to be “AWESOME-SAUCE!”

Our community is blooming, and we are grateful you are a part of it.

Mr. Rogers’ Birthday Celebration!

All are welcome to join us for this celebration of Mr. Rogers’! We are excited to partner with Community United Church of Christ (CUCC) in Raleigh on March 26th from 10am-12pm for this fun-filled morning of crafting, puppet skits, and friendship.

You are invited to join in person with us at the Community United Church of Christ in Raleigh, or to join us on Zoom. Please find more information here.

Our friend Jeff had the idea to celebrate Mr Rogers. He is on our planning team and has shared what Mr. Rogers means to him: Mr. Rogers treated everyone with love, respect, and kindness. On his tv show he bought up issues that are hard for young children to talk about, for example what happens when someone dies. When I was a young boy I would always love to watch Mr Rogers because he talked about make believe and he made everything into a tune. He was a very caring person and he treated his audience with respect while singing songs he wrote. When I was coming up with this fun way to interact with Mr. Rogers, my childhood memories came to life.
