Sip, See & Support: A Dream Becomes Home
In November 2025, we had a bold dream: to purchase the Friendship Houses in Durham’s North Street neighborhood. On August 26, that dream came to life when we closed on the two houses and officially became the owners of two new L’Arche homes.
On August 30, friends, neighbors, donors, and members of our community gathered for Sip, See & Support — a chance to raise a glass, tour the houses, and celebrate just how far we’ve come.
And there was a lot to celebrate! These two houses will increase L’Arche NC’s residential capacity by 200%, creating new opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to have a home of their own while sharing life in community.
But purchasing the houses is only the beginning. Before our new Core Members can move in, both homes need renovations and accessibility improvements to make them safe, welcoming, and truly ready for the people who will call them home.
Sip, See & Support gave our community the opportunity not only to see what we’ve accomplished together, but to imagine what comes next: meals around the table, gardens tended together, birthdays and milestones celebrated, friendships formed, and two houses becoming homes.
To everyone who joined us, supported Forward in Friendship, or helped us reach this extraordinary milestone: thank you. We can’t wait to show you what comes next!
