L’Arche NC and friends plan a crafting activity and bring all the supplies. We will be enjoying a cup-full of cider while painting Fall canvases! \nWhat to expect: \n\nAt the beginning of our time together\, we will go around the circle and introduce ourselves. One of the best things about L’Arche events is making new friends. We usually have a “this or that” question to help break the ice of getting to know someone new (such as Cats or Dogs? Beach or Mountains? Pepsi or Coke?)\nAfter the introduction\, one of our fabulous team members or volunteers will explain the crafting activity or project.\nThe rest of our time\, we craft and chat with our new friends and old buddies. DESCRIPTION:You’re invited to join new friends and familiar faces at Cook Together (Formerly known as Cooking with Community). This week\, we will be making three different Fall flavors of miniature pies – Pumpkin\, Sweet Potato\, and Apple! We’d love to have you join us to kick off the Fall season with these delicious treats. All are welcome! \n  \nWhat to expect during this afternoon time of food and fellowship: \n1.  We first gather around tables and introduce ourselves. At this time\, we share what we are celebrating this week (e.g. a birthday\, our sports team won\, a family member visiting\, a new job\, etc.). We then ask a get-to-know-you “This or That” question\, such as “Do you like Salty or Savory?” or “Do you prefer the mountains or the beach?” \n2. Next\, we review the recipe we are making for the day. If it’s a group recipe\, we break into teams of 3-4 persons per table. \n3. We create the recipe together\, following the step-by-step directions (no cooking experience is needed to join us). Sometimes we make recipes that require an oven or stove\, other times we make a treat or snack that does not require any kitchen appliances. \n4. We eat and enjoy our newly made treat. DESCRIPTION:You’re invited to join together with new friends and familiar faces at Cooking with Community. \nWhat to expect during this afternoon time of food and fellowship: \n1.  We first gather around tables and introduce ourselves. At this time\, we share what we are celebrating this week (e.g. a birthday\, our sports team won\, a family member visiting\, a new job\, etc.). We then ask a get-to-know-you question\, such as “What is your favorite kind of animal?” \n2. Next\, we review the recipe we are making for the day. If it’s a group recipe\, we break into small groups of 2-3 persons per table. \n3. We create the recipe together\, following the step-by-step directions (no cooking experience is needed to join us). Sometimes we make recipes that require an oven or stove\, other times we make a treat or snack that does not require any kitchen appliances. \n4. We eat and enjoy our newly made treat. \n5. We clean up together. \n6. If we finish early\, we may play a game. \n  \nWe will be making soft pretzels! Please register using this link.

SUMMARY:Disability Pride Parade
DESCRIPTION:Our former Duke Divinity Intern\, Tatum Tricarico\, and a few of her friends are planning a Disability Pride Parade in Durham\, NC. \nIt will be held on July 29 from 10:00am to 2:00pm and will be an amazing opportunity to celebrate the community of Disabled people in Durham and the broader Triangle area. Everyone is invited to join in the Disability Pride Parade with us! \nL’Arche North Carolina will have a table with information and will be moving together in the parade. Come walk and roll with us! \n\nFor over 30 years\, there have been Disability Pride Parades that celebrate who Disabled people are and commemorate the signing of the ADA on July 26th\, 1990. Each year there are parades and gatherings to honor the community\, but the closest one to the Triangle is in Charlotte NC\, and Tatum and friends are planning a local celebration so that we can be part of the national Disability community.\n\nThe parade will start in the parking lot of the Reality Ministries Center at 916 Lamond Ave\, Durham NC (near Brightleaf Square). \n\nThere will be information tables set up in the Reality Center parking lot and sensory-friendly spaces\, as well as bathrooms and a First Aid Station in the Reality Center building. After the parade\, there will be food trucks\, and a group of amazing speakers to share about what makes them proud to be Disabled. \n\n\nThis is a walking or rolling Parade. No Vehicles or Floats. All flags\, costumes\, banners or other displays of Disability Pride are very welcome!\n\nThe parade will leave from the Reality Center\, up Gregson St.\, down Main St\, and through Morgan St. back to the Reality Center parking lot.  See attached map showing parade route.\n\nParking is available in the Brightleaf Area\, and on the corner of Albemarle and Morgan St.
