It’s a great opportunity to meet new friends and gather with community. \nIn March\, we are going to explore the Museum of Life and Science in Durham. Join from 3:00-4:30pm. \nYou are responsible for your own Admission ticket to the museum. This is a Durham Community day. Durham County residents get in free with current proof of residence. SUMMARY:Stations of the Cross: Disability Justice
DESCRIPTION:At each of the fourteen stations\, we will prayerfully memorialize and visualize the journey of Christ to the Cross. At the gathering\, we will use reflections written by Tatum Tricarico\, the Disability Justice and Theology intern at L’Arche North Carolina. L’Arche is a community that provides friendship\, housing\, and community for people with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities. These reflections will invite us to experience the stations of the Cross from a distinct Disability theology perspective. This will inform us about the joys and sorrows of the Disabled community\, allow us to notice the unique ways that God is at work from a Disability perspective\, and give us the opportunity to pray for God to help us move beyond the Ableism and discrimination that are often present. We will travel through these stations in solidarity with Disabled people and with a deep trust that Jesus’ life\, death\, and resurrection open up a sense of our own calling to live amidst the joys and sorrows of others. \n\n\n\n*Please note a Zoom/viritual option is available on Tuesday\, April 4 at 7:00pm (see calendar). \n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

After worship we’ll be able to get to know one another during fellowship in the Vaughan Fellowship Hall. \nOur Disability & Justice Intern\, Tatum Tricarico\, will offer a sermon on the healing of the blind man in John 9. Tatum is a second-year student at Duke Divinity and a disability rights activist on Instagram (@blind_person_in_area). She also serves as an Advocate with the California Foundation of Independent Living Centers Youth Organizing program as well as other agencies. \nEveryone is welcome to attend.

DESCRIPTION:You’re invited to join together with new friends and familiar faces at Cooking with Community. \nWhat to expect during this afternoon time of food and fellowship: \n1.  We first gather around tables and introduce ourselves. At this time\, we share what we are celebrating this week (e.g. a birthday\, our sports team won\, a family member visiting\, a new job\, etc.). We then ask a get-to-know-you question\, such as “What is your favorite kind of animal?” \n2. Next\, we review the recipe we are making for the day. If it’s a group recipe\, we break into small groups of 2-3 persons per table. \n3. We create the recipe together\, following the step-by-step directions (no cooking experience is needed to join us). Sometimes we make recipes that require an oven or stove\, other times we make a treat or snack that does not require any kitchen appliances. \n4. We eat and enjoy our newly made treat. \n5. We clean up together. \n6. If we finish early\, we may play a game. \n  \nThis month we will be making mini bundt cakes! Please register using this link.
