DESCRIPTION:Interactive Stations of the Cross with L’Arche NC\n\nWednesday\, March 27 at Community UCC at 7:00PM (in person)\n\nAt each of the fourteen stations\, we will prayerfully memorialize and visualize the journey of Christ to the Cross. At the gathering\, we will use reflections written by Tatum Tricarico\, the L’Arche NC Disability Justice and Theology intern from Duke Divinity School. These reflections will invite us to experience the stations of the Cross from a distinct Disability theology perspective. This will inform us about the joys and sorrows of the Disabled community\, allow us to notice the unique ways that God is at work from a Disability perspective\, and give us the opportunity to pray for God to help us move beyond the Ableism and discrimination that are often present. We will send the address (located in South Durham about a mile from the Lowe’s on Fayetteville Rd) to everyone by January 6th! \n\n\n\nParking: We kindly ask that those who are able to do so park a bit further down the street. This will help ensure that there is ample parking space closer to the house for those who may have difficulty walking longer distances. Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated and will make the event more accessible for everyone. \n\nAccessibility: As previously noted\, this house is in the process of renovations that are not yet complete\, including an accessible bathroom and entrance to the kitchen. Guests using mobility aids (such as walkers or a wheelchair) will have very limited access during the event. SUMMARY:Already and Not Yet: Disability and Advent Study
DESCRIPTION:Tatum Tricarico\, our Disability and Theology Intern ♿✝️\, is leading us through a four-week Disability Advent series! \nWe will meet on a weekly basis to reflect and converse with chosen pieces of scripture\, poetry\, and teachings at the intersection of disability and Advent theology. Each session will include the opportunity to learn about an important Disability Justice leader. \nEach meeting will be Hybrid: In-person at Duke Memorial UMC\, & Zoom. \nWhat to expect during this evening of prayer and fellowship: \n1. We first take some time to connect with each other\, and go over the day’s agenda. ✅ \n2. Next\, we reflect on chosen pieces of scripture\, poetry\, and teaching. 📜 \n3. Thirdly\, we converse on those pieces\, with participants breaking into two groups – those on Zoom\, “Zoomies\,” and those in-person\, “Roomies.” 💬 \n4. We report back on our thoughts\, and discuss them all together. \n5. DESCRIPTION:Join us on Thursday from 2:00 – 4:00 PM for Move Together! We’ll be exploring the Natural Science Museum in Raleigh! \nWhat to expect from our time together: \n\nWe will gather as a group at the Edenton Street Bulla Center in Raleigh (301 W. Jones Street\, Raleigh NC 27603).\nWe will launch our time together with introductions and our weekly check-in\nWe will walk as a group to the Natural Science Museum. We will divide into teams and explore the museum. If we have more time\, we will conclude with a team building game!\nWe will walk back to the Bulla Center for snacks.\n\nTo prepare: L’Arche will provide mini water bottles at the beginning of our session\, but we encourage all to bring their own water bottle.
