It’s a great opportunity to meet new friends and gather with community. \nIn March\, we are going to explore the Museum of Life and Science in Durham. Join from 3:00-4:30pm. \nYou are responsible for your own Admission ticket to the museum. This is a Durham Community day. Durham County residents get in free with current proof of residence. All adults must have Durham residency to get in free; each adult can bring up to five children. DESCRIPTION:You’re invited to join together with new friends and familiar faces at Cooking with Community. \nSign up here to RSVP. \nWhat to expect during this afternoon time of food and fellowship: \n1.  We first gather around tables and introduce ourselves. At this time\, we share what we are celebrating this week (e.g. a birthday\, our sports team won\, a family member visiting\, a new job\, etc.). We then ask a get-to-know-you question\, such as “What is your favorite kind of animal?” \n2. Next\, we review the recipe we are making for the day. If it’s a group recipe\, we break into small groups of 2-3 persons per table. \n3. We create the recipe together\, following the step-by-step directions (no cooking experience is needed to join us). Sometimes we make recipes that require an oven or stove\, other times we make a treat or snack that does not require any kitchen appliances. \n4. We eat and enjoy our newly made treat. \n5. We clean up together. \n6. If we finish early\, we may play a game.

DESCRIPTION:Following the National Disability Employment Awareness Month theme\, “Disability is part of the equity equation\,” L’Arche North Carolina will host a panel event\, “Disability & Employment\,” on November 3 at 6:30pm EST.  \nThis panel will discuss the reality (both positive and negative) of Disabled people’s experiences with employment. After a brief overview of the history and accessibility of the workforce\, we will hear stories from Disabled people sharing about their jobs and careers.
