Sip, See, & Support

August 23 @ 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm

For years, these two neighboring houses have been known as the Friendship Houses. Soon, they will begin a new chapter.

L’Arche North Carolina is planning to purchase the Friendship Houses on August 17, continuing their legacy of belonging while blending it with the relationship-centered model of direct care support that defines L’Arche. Together, these homes will continue to be a place where adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and Duke Divinity students share everyday life alongside live-in and live-out assistants, creating a community rooted in friendship, purpose, and belonging.

Before renovations begin, we’d love to welcome you inside.

Join us on Sunday, August 23, from 4:00–7:00 p.m. for Sip, See, and Support, an open house where you can journey through the Friendship Houses, learn about L’Arche’s vision, and imagine the community that will soon call these houses home. Enjoy light hors d’oeuvres, a glass of wine or sparkling juice, meet members of our community, and hear how this next chapter will build on the Friendship Houses’ remarkable legacy.

Admission is free, but we encourage you to reserve your ticket so we can plan for refreshments.

Every gift made through this event will help renovate the homes, making them safer, more accessible, and warmer for the people who will live here. With your support, we hope to begin renovations this fall and welcome our first Core Members, Duke Divinity students, and live-in assistants in the summer of 2027.

Come see the homes, celebrate the legacy, and help shape the future of belonging.

Please select the arrival time that works best for you. This will help us manage the number of guests throughout the event and ensure everyone has a wonderful experience.

Street parking is limited. A small number of spaces are available along Northwood Circle, with additional parking available in nearby lots off Geer Street. Please allow a few extra minutes for parking.
